Jaw dropping benefits of the Sunshine Vitamin D

Jaw dropping benefits of the Sunshine Vitamin D

There is a health revolution awakening as more people are discovering the benefits of high doses of Vitamin D.

Jeff Bowles reveals his research in his book titled:

THE MIRACULOUS RESULTS OF EXTREMELY HIGH DOSES OF THE SUNSHINE HORMONE VITAMIN D3: MY EXPERIMENT WITH HUGE DOSES OF D3 FROM 25,000 to 50,000 to 100,000 IU A DAY OVER A ONE-YEAR PERIOD

My book contains 144+ Pages of Fact-Packed Science Based Information-and is FUN to read.
Upon realizing that taking 4,000 IU of Vitamin D3 a day was not enough for me, I decided to embark on a “dangerous” experiment that directly contradicted everything MD’s had told me for years:

”DON’T TAKE TOO MUCH VITAMIN D IT IS DANGEROUS!”

I started taking 20,000 IU a day. That is 50X times the recommended dose of 400 IU a day.
After about 4 months upped the dose to 50,000 IU a day or 150X the old recommended “safe” dose. I then boosted it to 100,000 IU a day or 300 x TIMES the old maximum safe dose!

What happened over these last 10 months? Did I die? get sick? No! Just the opposite!!

This high dose Vitamin D3 therapy over the last year CURED ALL MY CHRONIC CONDITIONS-SOME THAT I’D HAD FOR 20+ YEARS!

  1. A painful snapping hip syndrome which I had been suffering from for 23 years and no Dr could help me-It is now 100% gone. No pain and NO SNAPPING!!
  2. Yellow fungus infected toenails (under the nail)- I tried everything over 20 years and nothing worked-10 months of high dose Vitamin D3 and they are clear as a bell! 100% cured.
  3. A knobby bone spur on my elbow that made me look like Popeye the sailor man. It has now 100% dissolved and my elbow is back to the way it used to be 20 years ago.
  4. Painful , clicking, popping, stiff Arthritic shoulders that prevented me from even throwing a ball from home plate past the infield. A condition I’ve had for 15 years. Gone. No more popping snapping or clicking and I can throw the ball twice as far.
  5. A ganglion cyst that persisted on my wrist for over 5 years has shrunk from the size of half a golf ball to the size of a pea and now it is rock hard, painless and shrinking.
  6. A small subcutaneous cyst on my face that had not gone away for 20 years –now gone!
  7. AND without even trying my weight has dropped by 25 pounds from 204 to 179.
This book tells you detailed results of my experiment, dangers to avoid, and also discusses a simple and elegant new theory that suggests how High Dose Vitamin D3 therapy Should help PREVENT OR CURE all the epidemics of disease and health issues that have been plaguing us since the 1980’s when Doctors started warning us to stay out of the sun and always use sunscreen. This has created the huge epidemics we see today of Obesity, Autism, Asthma, and many others!

The theory is simple:

Vitamin D3 is a hormone that your skin makes when you sit in the sun. It is not a vitamin. It was just mislabeled when it was discovered.

When your Vitamin D3 levels are low, your body gets you to prepare for winter by overeating, slowing you down to conserve energy, and even making you depressed to keep you housebound. Interestingly it is this same drop in Vitamin D3 levels that signals a bear to start hibernating!

If your body expects famine-like conditions caused by winter to be likely, it will conserve your critical resources for the future. This leads to what I call the Incomplete Repair Syndrome which in turn causes most of the diseases humans face other than spontaneous gene mutations that cause syndromes and diseases caused exclusively by aging.

High D3 can be used to prevent or treat a huge number of diseases MS, asthma, 17 kinds of cancer, lupus, arthritis, heart disease, obesity, depression, Parkinsons and many more…

Most modern diseases stem from nutritional deficiencies rather than complex pathological processes requiring expensive pharmaceutical interventions.

Modern Medicine as Poison

My Stanford-educated physician father made a stark observation: "Every medicine in reality is a poison." This is the foundation for understanding that modern medicine operates as a substitute immune system rather than addressing root causes.

When antibiotics kill infections or biologics suppress autoimmune responses, doctors are treating symptoms while ignoring why the immune system failed. This creates a perpetual cycle of illness and intervention that enriches pharmaceutical companies while keeping patients dependent on increasingly expensive treatments.

Biologic drugs designed to rev up immune responses against cancer inevitably trigger autoimmune diseases as side effects, while autoimmune biologics that suppress immune attacks on healthy tissues create vulnerability to infections and cancers.

Vitamin D3 functions as the "ultimate biologic" that simultaneously strengthens immune responses against pathogens while preventing autoimmune attacks—with no adverse effects when administered with adequate cofactors.

The Five Deadly Deficiencies of the Modern Age

Five specific nutritional deficiencies cause most contemporary diseases: Vitamin D3 (Ideally 40,000 to 80,000 IU per week if only maintaining levels), magnesium (ideally 500-600mg per day), Vitamin K2 (ideally 100-150mcg per day), boron (ideally 5-10mg per day) and zinc (ideally 15-20mg per day). These deficiencies interact synergistically, with Vitamin D3 serving as the master conductor while the others function as essential cofactors.

Vitamin D3: The Master Hormone

Despite its name, Vitamin D3 is a steroid hormone rather than a vitamin, and it controls over 2,700 genes involved in immune regulation and tissue remodeling.

Medical authorities systematically suppressed high-dose Vitamin D3 therapy after it emptied hospitals in the 1920s and 1930s. When people consumed 20-25mg daily (equivalent to 1 million IU), hospitals faced bankruptcy as diseases disappeared.

The medical establishment responded by changing measurement units from milligrams to International Units, making doses sound more dangerous, and conducting flawed studies with deliberately toxic doses.

The 1937 Steck report, involving 773 humans and 63 dogs over nine years, proved doses up to 20,000 IU per kilogram of body weight were safe for extended periods.

Medical authorities ignored these findings, establishing the current 400 IU daily recommendation, which is barely enough to prevent rickets.

Compelling latitude studies show disease rates increase dramatically as distance from the equator increases and sun exposure decreases. Multiple sclerosis, various cancers, diabetes, autism, asthma, and dozens of other conditions follow this pattern precisely. Disease rates exploded after 1980, coinciding with widespread sun avoidance and sunscreen use.

I get emails from people from all around the world, saying what happened when they took high-dose D3. One guy in Austria had been blind in one eye for two years. Doctors said it was permanent. He was taking 60,000 IU a day. And after a month or two, he woke up and told his wife, “I'm looking at you through my blind eye.” I got all sorts of stories like that. People were curing their multiple sclerosis and every other autoimmune disease you can imagine. I've heard from more than 1000 people doing these experiments.

My website, jefftbowles.com, allows you to search for any disease or issue by clicking the “Search D3 Cures” button. If you pop in multiple sclerosis, for example, you'll see a list of 12 or 15 people's self-reports of their high-dose D3 experiments and what happened. My readers have cured asthma, Crohn's disease, psoriasis, various skin diseases, acne, and many autoimmune diseases with high-dose D3. Vitamin D boosts all aspects of your immune system and optimizes its function.

Vitamin D czar Henry Lahore

Henry is a genius and at 77 is maintaining VitaminDWiki.com, the ultimate information and most comprehensive source of Vitamin D studies and information.

He believes the potential of vitamin D to treat disease is untapped, and that blood testing and supplements like magnesium should always be used when larger doses are taken.

He keeps his levels at 200 ng/ml, far over the conventional 30-50 ng/ml limits.

Henry’s goal is to improve the health of the world. He lists proof that Vitamin D treats and/or prevents 99 diseases. Enjoy an interview with him at the links provided below.

Sunshine is certainly the best source but do we get enough?

Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from the sun trigger a natural biochemical process in the skin. It converts a cholesterol-like precursor into vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Twenty minutes of daily sunshine, somewhere between 10am-3pm, on bare arms, legs or face might yield 1,000-3,000 IU of Vitamin D, if you have very pale skin.

For darker skin types, you need 2-10x longer (40-120 minutes).
Sounds like an easy target at least in summer, until you apply sunscreen.
Sunscreen (SPF 8+) blocks 95% of UVB rays.

How Much Vitamin D Do We Need?

Requirements vary by age, life stage, and health status, but the mainstream recommendation is 400-1,000 IU daily - which provides a just barely measurable benefit according to Henry Lahore.

In the research shared by Henry, you should take a minimum of 2,000 IU daily if you have no risk factors, rather up to 4,000 IU if you have a single risk factor, and you should experiment with 10,000 - 50,000 IU daily if you have multiple risk factors.

The chart below shows how risk factors decreased as Vitamin D intake increased.

derived from Grassroots 2013

The real problem lies with deficiency. If you are deficient in Vitamin D (below 20ng/ml), it takes time (1-2 months @ 40,000 IU per day) to get to optimal levels (above 80ng/ml) in your blood.

Studies show up to 80% of adults worldwide are deficient.

Testing for deficiency requires blood tests (about R350 @ Pathcare), but here are a few symptomatic pointers:

  • Persistent Fatigue: Exhausted despite adequate rest? Vitamin D supports energy production; low levels leave you drained.
  • Bone or Joint Pain: Aching signals poor calcium use (osteomalacia). Vitamin D is a key regulator of calcium metabolism.
  • Muscle Weakness/Cramps: Deficiency weakens muscles.
  • Frequent Infections: Low levels hamper immunity, worsening conditions.
  • Mood Swings/Depression: Low serotonin comes from a deficiency.
  • Hair Loss/Brittle Nails: Slowed repair from low levels.

What Do Sufficient Levels Do For You?

Vitamin D regulates multiple systems in your body. Here’s how it helps you:

  • Strong Bones: Vitamin D aids calcium absorption, building dense bones and supporting skeletal health. Magnesium enhances this process.
  • Immunity: It strengthens your immune defenses, supporting your body’s ability to fight infections like colds and bolster autoimmune health.
  • Mood: Vitamin D supports serotonin production, enhancing mood and fighting depression or seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
  • Muscles: It enhances muscle strength, supporting better mobility and reducing cramps for stronger muscles.

It Lowers The Risk Of:

  • Cancer: A Vitamin D3 blood level of more than 60 ng/ml reduces the breast cancer risk by 82% (relative to levels below 20 ng/ml). The higher the levels in this study, the lower the risk of breast cancer.
  • Dementia: A 2014 Neurology study shows adequate Vitamin D (above 30 ng/ml) may reduce dementia risk by 20-30% by supporting brain health.
  • Osteoporosis: A 2017 Osteoporosis International study notes Vitamin D cuts osteoporosis risk by up to 30% by strengthening bones.
  • Chronic Diseases: As a natural anti-inflammatory, it lowers the risk of inflammation-related diseases for a longer, healthier life.

Vitamin D Can Change Your Life!

Here are some compelling examples from personal stories, patient reports, and published case studies.

These people reported significant recovery after correcting Vitamin D deficiency through higher-dose supplementation.

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Severe Fatigue: In a 2025 study of 28 ME/CFS patients with profound fatigue, immune dysfunction, and musculoskeletal pain, high-dose Vitamin D replacement (up to 4,000 IU/day) led to marked symptom relief in most participants within 3-6 months, including reduced fatigue and improved quality of life. One patient described it as "lifting a veil" after years of bedbound exhaustion. Similarly, a Reddit user shared their "year of hell" with constant illnesses, vertigo, and anxiety due to levels below 10 ng/mL; after 5,000 IU/day, they regained energy and immune function within weeks, calling it a "complete turnaround."
  •  Severe Depression and Anxiety: A 26-year-old woman (Mary) endured debilitating depression, anxiety, and social withdrawal, cycling through multiple psychiatrists without relief. Her Vitamin D level was critically low at 12 ng/mL. After starting 2,000 IU/day (escalating to 5,000 IU), she reported feeling "like a new person" within a month—mood stabilized, energy returned, and therapy became effective. Her doctor noted it as a "dramatic response" tied to deficiency correction. Another from GrassrootsHealth: A participant with lifelong depression since age 13 (levels ~15 ng/mL) took 10,000 IU/week; within 3 months, the "fog lifted," allowing her to resume work and exercise without meds.
  • Cancer (Pancreatic) and Advanced Age Frailty: An 83-year-old woman with stage IV pancreatic cancer accidentally took 50,000 IU/day for 10 months (instead of 500 IU). No toxicity occurred; instead, her tumor shrank by 10.2%, and she survived far beyond prognosis—attributed to Vitamin D's anti-cancer effects like immune modulation. Her oncologist called it "remarkable.
  • Post-COVID Syndrome (Long COVID) and Brain Fog: A researcher with persistent fatigue, anxiety, and cognitive issues post-COVID (lasting over a year) tried 50,000 IU/week; symptoms eased dramatically within 4 weeks, aligning with a 2024 study showing high-dose Vitamin D (10,000 IU/day) reduced fatigue by 40-60% in similar patients via anti-inflammatory pathways.

The 83-year-old's story stands out. She accidentally "overdosed" on vitamin D, which is supposed to pose toxicity risks at those levels, yet it had the opposite effect, she got better. This story alone should challenge traditional views and recommended dosages.

I personally have been experimenting with taking between 40,000IU and 80,000IU per week and lifted my Vit D levels from below 30ng/ml to 100ng/ml over the last year. I do not have any chronic disease but my fitness levels have improved significantly and I feel stronger and healthier at 57 than ever.

How To Get Those D Levels Up?

Sun exposure is limited by work, lifestyle, or sunscreen.

Vitamin D-rich foods give small doses—you’d need buckets of salmon to get to the daily dosages suggested, if you are deficient.

The Only Solution: Vitamin D Supplements

Quality supplements are a reliable solution for steady Vitamin D levels.

So WHY wouldn't you:

  • spend less than R1.00 a day to lower your risk for cancer?
  • spend less than R1.00 a day to lower your risk for dementia?
  • spend less than R1.00 a day to lower your risk of osteoporosis?
  • spend less than R1.00 a day to have stronger muscles?
  • spend less than R1.00 a day to live a longer, healthier life?
